MbCare

MbCARE (Microbial bacterial Classification by Automated Raman Examination) is an international research and development project aimed at pioneering the future of rapid, label-free bacterial identification and clinical diagnostics. By combining high-precision Raman spectroscopy with cutting-edge artificial intelligence framework (such as Spectral Transformers), the project automates the classification of bacteria. This eliminates the need for time-consuming laboratory cultivation, cutting diagnosis times down from days to just a few hours directly at the point of care.

The project is co-funded internationally by the European Eurostars program and nationally by the Innovation Fund Denmark (IFD).

The project is driven by a strong interdisciplinary consortium consisting of industry experts, national metrology researchers, and clinical end-users: Lightnovo ApS, DFM (Danish National Metrology Institute), and Odense University Hospital (OUH).
